Star Being
by Alison Stormwolf

Carefully, I peer out
from behind my eyes
This world often seems
like an alien environment,
so I have to take care.
So many discrepancies!
Such cruelty and suffering.
Safer remaining within
protected by skin and bone.
I sometimes come out
And dance in the moonbeams
Lose myself in music
Surrender myself in love's passion,
But mostly, I stay inside
sheltering, observing, wondering ...
Biding my time, until that special day
I can take my place once more
return to my home
among the stars.
from behind my eyes
This world often seems
like an alien environment,
so I have to take care.
So many discrepancies!
Such cruelty and suffering.
Safer remaining within
protected by skin and bone.
I sometimes come out
And dance in the moonbeams
Lose myself in music
Surrender myself in love's passion,
But mostly, I stay inside
sheltering, observing, wondering ...
Biding my time, until that special day
I can take my place once more
return to my home
among the stars.
